Hi, I'm Tom

A designer (UX/UI) and all round champion of human centered design with 20+ years agency experience.

I currently work, rest and play in London.

Approach

By applying a design thinking approach (discover, define, design, deliver), I seek to understand the user, challenge assumptions, and redefine problems to identify innovative design strategies and solutions.

Experience

With 22 years agency experience - starting as a junior website designer in 2000, through to creative director and design director of two successful businesses - I bring a combination of business understanding and design knowledge.

On recent sabbatical I completed the UX Design Immersive course at General Assembly.

These experiences give me a well rounded, high level perspective on design challenges, underpinned by my belief that the most successful way to harness the true potential of a product or service is by connecting the sensibilities of its users with sound business sense.

A bit about me

I take my work seriously but like to have some fun along the way. I love a project, whether work, art or craft related or DIY and gardening. Oh, and if you want to get scientific about it, I'm an ENFJ according to the Myers Briggs test.

Excercise

I find running the best way to relax and re-energise. I also firmly believe that when you move your body you move your mind. I'm a fair weather cyclist - Sadly my rugby days are long behind me.

The Visual Arts

I love the visual arts and usually have a side project on the go. Nowadays it tends to be something I can do with the budding artists in the family. They’re now at the age when we can visit galleries together which is an absolute joy.

Food

With Italian heritage it's not surprising that I'm food obsessed. My grandparents were restaurateurs and my father worked in the wine trade. I've taken courses including the shellfish course at Billingsgate Market and enjoy nothing more than cooking for family and friends.

Music

Music is the most accessible art form and I have an eclectic taste. I'm a long retired Drum and Bass DJ and still collect records to go in my pride and joy, a 1960s Seeburg Jukebox.
